As the Student Leaders of 2011, we would like to welcome the prospective students, parents and caregivers to our wonderful school, Christchurch South Intermediate.

South has helped create leaders and legends since 1939. From sporting brilliance, to musical geniuses, there will always be success.

At South there are many opportunities that are available for everybody, Te Ropu Hari Koa (kapahaka), Pasifika, Theatre Sports, Choir, Orchestra, Battle of the Bands, Lip Sync, Major Production and Garden Club to name a few! Or if you’re into sport, Cricket, Rugby, Rugby League, Triathlon/Duathlon Netball, Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, Squash, Touch Rugby, Orienteering, Volleyball, Water Polo, Athletics, Rippa Rugby and Mountain Biking.

At South, our moto is Aim High. This leads to yet another opportunity, Aim High Badge. Aim High Badge is achievable by all students who are prepared to get involved and uphold the “South Way”.

Broadgreen Exchange is just one of the many exciting school wide activities. The whole concept is for us, and Broadgreen Intermediate to experience a week at each other’s school. Last year the Broadgreen students came here, so this year it’s time for us to go up to Nelson. One of the ways that you can get involved is to try out for a sports team, or get involved with a cultural group.

This year the multi-million dollar upgrades to the school are hoped to be finished. The Sheppard pod has been fully functioning from the start of the year with three more pods of classrooms to be built during the year. The hall will also undergo a complete refurbishment. This is an exciting time to be at South. Future students will really appreciate the new and improved environment.

At South we open up lots of leadership opportunities, not just head students. There are four teams, focused on different areas around the school - The Health Team, The Social Awareness Team, The Arts Team and The Physical Activity Leaders (PALs).

Being the Head Students of 2011 is a great honour. We hope to uphold the standard set by the previous student leaders. As the Head Students of 2011 we would just like to say that South is a great school so make the most of your time here. Aim High!
