If you would like to receive text alert updates from the school there are currently two ways this can be achieved - either via a Twitter account or a Facebook account. Twitter Please follow the instructions below to get set up (You will need a Twitter account but don't need to become a Twitter addict, in fact you need never tweet yourself!);
Step 1 - On a computer Create a Twitter account by signing up at www.twitter.com (Skip this step if you have already signed up to Twitter) Step 2 - On your cell phone
1. Text follow chchsouth1 to 8987
2. Wait for a reply.
3. Reply with the Twitter username you just created.
4. Wait for a reply
5. Reply with the password you just created.
6. Wait for a reply.
7. Reply with OK
8. Text follow chchsouth1 to 8987
You are now in business. You don't need to visit Twitter Website again. The tweets from school will arrive as texts to your phone at no cost to you or the school!
If you ever want to stop texts via Twitter from school send OFF@chchsouth1 to 8987 Facebook Please follow the instructions below to get set up (You will need a Facebook account but you can use Facebook as little or as often as you want. Please remember that you have to be over 13 years old to have a Facebook account); Step 1 - On a computer Create a Facebook account by following the instructions at www.facebook.com (Skip this step if you already have a Facebook account) Step 2 - On a computer 1. Log onto your Facebook page. 2. Click on the Account link 3. Click on Account Settings in the drop down box 4. Click on the link called Mobile on the left had side of the page. 5. Register your Telecom or Vodafone cellphone (While these are currently the only two New Zealand mobile phone networks that support text notifications from Facebook your provider may actually use one of these networks - eg TelestraClear use the Vodafone network) 6. Once you have followed the instructions to register your cell phone add the Christchurch South Intermediate Facebook page to your Notification settings. 7. Make sure Facebook Mobile text notifications are turned on. If you ever want to stop texts from the school via Facebook remove the school Facebook page from your Mobile settings on your Facebook page.
