The term 2 korfball tournament was held on the 30th June in brisk conditions at the Hagley Netball courts. With 33 teams entered, there was certainly a lot of competition to hold onto the trophy!
All members of the squad took part in the tournament, the first time in our history! Our D team performed admirably and improved rapidly throughout the day. After some excellent results, they unfortunately went down to Pegasus Bay who eventuated to win the final of the B grade.
Our C team, is very much a development team as we look to build on our current skills and constantly look for new ways we can improve and be better. The teamwork and cohesion of our team was a thrill to watch and we found ourselves in the final against Pegasus Bay. After a tense match, the teams could not be separated and we were in a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, we could not bring home the biscuits, and we finished 2nd in the B grade. So close!!
The B team was well led by Captain Casey Cleine throughout the day. They had a great tournament and pulled off some great wins. The team reacted well to what they were up against and represented themselves well.
Finally, the A team blitzed through pool play and the preliminary finals with only conceding 1 goal throughout the course of the day. Matched up against our old foe St Martins, our skill level and unity was at another level once again. We saved our best game for the end and convincingly won the final and the tournament. Our 9th tournament in a row! Will we be able to make it to double digits consecutive tournament wins??
